Welcome You!
***********
"Members of Cochrane
Street United Church are increasingly aware of the needs of some
residents in the downtown of St. John's. On Sunday, July 29th.,
we sponsored a B.B.Q. in Bannerman Park for 250 people. A wonderful
afternoon was experienced by all. The weather even cooperated!
The organizing committee wishes to thank the many local businesses,
whose help made this event possible."
Deal of a Meal

"BAG"
TO SCHOOL PROJECT
Cochrane
Street United Church, in conjunction with other United and Presbyterian
Churches in the city, have a special project, which is to supply
school bags and school supplies to children of clients of Bridges
to Hope Food Aid Centre. When school starts in September, experience
has shown that there are approximately 100 children needing school
bags and supplies and who would not be able to purchase them
nor would they qualify for them from another agency.
The following
pictures show the work in progress and those who assisted in
preparing the bags. Thanks to everyone who provided financial
support and their time. Without you this would not have been
possible!

Happy Volunteers
2007
" This year Bridges
to Hope supported Cochrane Street United as they worked towards
providing book bags and supplies for the children of our clients.
An amazing amount of funds was gathered from all churches that
are connected to Bridges to Hope, and a hugh amount of work was
then done by a few dedicated people, who had birthed the "Bag"
to School Project. The most exiting time of this project was
actually handing the book bags over to the parents, whose needs
were being met. They were hesitant at first, however, once I
had assured them that it was OK and was for them, they became
all choked up and thanked us many times. For me, as Food Coordinator,
it was a wonderful, joyous and humbling experience"
Jennifer Whitfield, Food Coordinator,
Bridges to Hope.
